Hello everyone,
How are you? I hope you are in good health. This time I will talk about implementing the 13th SDGs goal. Currently, the SDGs are being widely promoted and implemented in various countries in the world, and Indonesia is no exception. I am here as one of the Indonesian people who also participate in promoting and implementing it.
What I discuss here is the goal of the 13th SDGs, namely climate change. There are many impacts of climate change that have a negative impact on human survival, one of which is the long dry season which causes farmers to fail to harvest, this is what I will eliminate this time.
Do you know how big the impact of the long drought on the agricultural sector? According to the data from BPS, in 2015 the average area of land that failed to harvest due to prolonged drought in Indonesia was around 963,183 ha and it is still uncertain whether there is an increase or decrease in the area of land that fails to harvest throughout Indonesia.
In 2018 my village where I live also experienced crop failure due to a prolonged drought, and the solution thought by the villagers is to make a water bank that can be used during the dry season and filled during the rainy season. So that it can overcome crop failure caused by prolonged drought.
Water bank
Above is a picture of the water bank in my village, the water bank measuring 16m x 4.5m x 1.8m which can accommodate 129.6L of rainwater which was built in a high area and arranged in terraces.
Multilevel water bank
The water bank is built in a high area and is arranged in layers so that the rainwater collected in the water bank can be channeled to the land below it, so that it can wet the land of farmers who have difficulty getting water.
With this we can solve the problem of farmers who fail to harvest due to the long drought. This water bank is also environmentally friendly so that it does not pollute the surrounding environment, and this water bank can also be converted into a fish farm if there is no long drought that hit the area. It can also increase the economy of the surrounding community by selling the fish from the farm.
What I mentioned above is a way for the village I live in to deal with long droughts and I think this is worth trying in areas that are prone to long droughts. In order to reduce the economic decline of the farmers if a long drought hits.

BalasHapusgood idea!, because the current climate has changed drastically and is not in accordance with calculations, there are so many farmers who fail to harvest, therefore we must also be able to provide the right solution as in this article, I really agree, hopefully many people will be helped.

BalasHapusThat is a good solution with multiple benefits. Drought really is a big problem cause of unpredictable weather and seasons these days. Perhaps Kevin can builds many other beneficial infrastructures like this in the future, to help and improve the quality of life of many people.
